Name/Title

Ax, Timber

Entry/Object ID

93-019b

Description

Metal single bevel broad axe head. One side is flat (which determines the axe to be a single bevel) and the other side is bevelled at the blade and curved around the opening where the handle fits. Consequently, the (wooden) handle (not present) would need to be flat on one side and curved on the other. The flat aspect of the axe is designed for cutting a flat surface, such as in producing a square timber. No manufacturer's marks or other information is apparent on the surface.
