Description

All. Fire and Safety, 1979. This single black and white contact print strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show one woman posing individually for photos, and the same woman in group photos with three men and one other woman. Image 11 shows an older woman with short, very curly hair wearing a vest over a collared shirt. This woman is facing directly toward the camera and her mouth is slightly opened. She is shown from the chest up, and she is standing in front of a wood door. Image 12 is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman is smiling. Image 13 shows the woman seen in the two previous images posing along with one other woman and five men for a group photo. From left to right is: a balding man in a short-sleeved, button-up shirt; a woman with shoulder-length hair parted to her left wearing glasses and a jacket with ferns and butterflies on it; a bearded man with glasses wearing a plaid blazer, the woman in images 11 and 12; and a balding man with glasses and a mustache wearing a polo-style shirt. All of these people are looking toward the camera and smiling. There are many fire extinguishers mounted on the wood-paneled wall behind these people. Image 14 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has panned to their right slightly. Many various safety-related signs are visible on the wall on the right-hand side of the image. Images 15 and 16 are nearly identical to image 14. "All. Fire and Safety" may refer to Allied Fire and Security, which was a vault, locksmith, and fire safety company founded in Spokane, Washington. This company operated a security monitoring center in Lacey, Washington. (http://www.alliedsafe.com/about_us.php - accessed 7/1/2018)
