Chinese Gardens, Unknown Date. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a four-piece rock band posing for photos outside of the Chinese Gardens restaurant. None of the musicians are actively playing their instruments in any of these photos. At left is the bass player with a viola-style electric bass resting on the ground and standing vertically in front of him. He is resting his hands on top of the bass's head. Second from left is the drummer. His drum kit has two bass drums. Third from left is a man with a Fender Jaguar guitar hanging on a strap around his shoulders. At right is a man holding a Vox 12-string acoustic guitar. A large electric guitar or bass amp and speaker cabinet are partially visible behind the acoustic guitar player. One of the bass drum heads reads "Water," and the other reads "Gate." The Chinese Garden restaurant is immediately behind the men.
The Chinese Garden restaurant opened at 4512 Pacific Avenue in Lacey, Washington in late 1972. It is later listed as being located at 4582 Pacific Avenue Southeast in Lacey.
