Thurston County Commissioners Yantis and Hedgepeth, 1973. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show George F. Yantis, Jr. and Homer Hedgepeth in a meeting room, and a Thurston County Sheriff's pickup truck pulling a boat. Image 16 shows George Yantis seated in a chair. He is balding and is wearing glasses and a blazer. His head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. His mouth is opened slightly. He is resting his right hand on his right knee. A second man in a jacket is seated in the background. There are metal folding chairs visible in the right-hand side of the image background. Image 17 shows Homer Hedgepeth seated at a table. He is balding and wearing glasses and a plaid shirt over a crew neck sweater. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame, but he is looking toward her camera. His right arm is resting on a table in the foreground. A counter and metal chairs are visible in the background. Image 18 is very similar to image 16, but here Mr. Yantis is holding a coffee mug in his right hand. Here he is also looking toward the camera. Image 19 is very similar to image 17, but here Mr. Hedgepeth is looking off toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 20 shows Mr. Hedgepeth holding his hand up toward the camera as though trying to block his face from being captured in the photo. Image 21 shows Mr. Yantis facing the right-hand side of the image frame. He is shown in profile from the chest up. Image 22 is very similar to the previous image, but here Mr. Yantis's head and body are turned more toward the camera. Image 23 shows Mr. Yantis and Mr. Hedgepeth standing near each other. Both have their head and body turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Mr. Yantis is looking down toward the coffee mug in his right hand. Image 24 is similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has panned to their left and upward slightly. Here Mr. Yantis is centered in the image and Mr. Hedgepeth is partially visible in the bottom-right corner of the image. Mr. Yantis is looking toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 25 shows Mr. Yantis centered in the image and looking directly at the camera. Mr. Hedgepeth's head is visible in the foreground facing toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 26 is similar to image 25, but here the photographer has panned to the right slightly to place Mr. Hedgepeth at the center of the image. Mr. Yantis is visible in the background drinking from a coffee mug. Image 27 shows Mr. Yantis standing with a coffee mug in his right hand and his left hand in the back pocket of his pants. He is looking over toward the camera. Image 28 shows a Thurston County Sheriff's Department pickup truck with a canopy towing a boat, which also reads "SHERIFF" on the side. These vehicles are in front of a large concrete building. Image 29 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has zoomed out slightly from the truck. Image 30 shows the truck driving away with the boat in tow. The front 2/3 of the truck is outside of the image frame.Made/Created
