Chinook Middle School Award Winners, 1973. These four black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show children posing together for photos and a woman standing in front of an open microwave oven. Image 16 shows a girl at left holding up a model of a hot air balloon and two smaller children at right holding up paper items which read "Passport to Adventure" on the front. The girl at left has long hair and is wearing a sweater, a skirt and sandals. One child at the right is wearing a horizontally-striped t-shirt and tennis shoes. The second child at right, partially obscured behind the other child, is wearing a shirt with a plaid-like design and tennis shoes. These three children appear to be in a classroom. Images 16 through 21 are nearly identical to each other. Image 22 shows a group of five children posing together for a group photo. There are two boys standing in the back row and two boys and one girl standing in the front row. The girl is at the center. All of these children are wearing glasses and have medals hanging around their necks which reads "DAR AWARD." This image was captured in front of a brick wall. Images 23 through 25 are nearly identical to image 22. Image 30 shows a group of nine girls and one boy posing together for a group photo. All of these children are seated and each has a medal hanging around their neck. They appear to be in a hallway or a large room. The photographer is roughly centered in front of the group. Image 31 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 32 is very similar to the previous two images, but here the photographer has moved to his left and closer to the girl at the left-hand end of the row of children. Image 33 is nearly identical to image 32. Image 44 shows an older woman with medium-length, wavy hair wearing glasses and a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow. She is standing in the corner of what appears to be a commercial kitchen in front of an open microwave oven. There are large windows to the left and right of the woman. The woman's head and body are oriented toward the left-hand side of the image and she is looking toward the camera.Made/Created
