Description

Doxol Gas Company, 1973. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a very large cylindrical gas tank being lifted by a construction crane. Image 16 shows the tank resting on two supports. The cable hanging from the crane is wrapped around the cylindrical tank. Text on the end of the tank facing toward the camera reads "DOXOL" and "FLAMMABLE." Images 17 and 18 are nearly identical to image 16. Image 19 shows the tank lifted approximately two feet off of the supports. Image 22 shows the tank hanging over open ground. One man is standing next to the tank as it hangs. He is reaching up and touching the tank with his left hand. He is facing away from the camera. A second man wearing a hard hat is standing on a platform which extends forward from the cab of the crane. He appears to be securing something the side of the tank. Image 23 is similar to image 22, but here two men are standing next to the tank over open ground. The man wearing the hard hat is in the cab of the crane. Image 26 shows the tank hanging over open ground. Two men are standing next to the crane and one man is in the crane's cab. Image 27 shows the tank hanging from the crane. Some tall grass ferns are occupying the image foreground. Images 28 and 29 are nearly identical to image 27. Image 30 shows the tank hanging from the crane, but here the tank is parallel to the image plane.
