Description

Pressed paper-pulp one-dozen egg carton with a folding top. The carton has 12 separate spaces for whole eggs. The spaces are separated by cone-shaped center divisions and small walls. There is a crease in the center that would facilitate breaking the carton into two 6-egg cartons. The top of the carton is printed in blue and red ink. On the top is "McChord A.F.B. Commissary, Tacoma Washington" above an image of a mountain with an aircraft in front of it, "AA Grade Large" and "One dozen eggs locally produced". On one side of the top is "Fresh Hand Packed Eggs" On the other side of the top is "Packed by Yates Eggs Olympia, Washington 98501". Pressed into the closing flap are numbers appearing to be "99" and "895". Other information is pressed into the flap but is unreadable. Harold Yates created the design of this egg carton for McChord Air Force base. Yates Egg Farm was located on Carpenter Road in Lacey.
