Description

Vintage electrical sign that probably originally advertised Hamms Beer, but a photo of Christmas Island outdoor display has been substituted for the beer image. The sign's front consists of a brass-colored metal frame within which is a glass lens through which the Christmas image is visible. The glass in the upper left quadrant is cracked. Projecting at the rear and inset .75" is a housing that contains the light source, and is mounted with machine screws. On the back of the housing is an opening with a glass lens surrounded by a painted yellow design. Also on the back is an on-off switch with a string attached, an electrical cord with a standard plug, and a paper sticker (partially removed) stating "Olympia Glass Company, Phone 352-0555, 717 E. Legion Way, Olympia, Wa 98501". On the top of the inset portion of the housing are three decals that read as follows (1) "Underwriters Laboratories Inc.. Inspected, Electric sign, Form 1, B 411014", (2) "Price Brothers Inc, Chicago, New York" and a "PB" monogram in the center, (3) "Property of Theo Hamm Brewing Co, St. Paul, Minnesota [unreadable] Use on 110-120 volt 60 cycle A C only, 75 line volt amperes, To relamp open back plate by removing 4 blue screws". An orange-colored wire has been attached to the back apparently for hanging.
