Metal and printed-paper desk globe of the earth. The object consists of a sphere covered by paper imprinted with land and sea features of the world. The paper is printed in color and has relief features to indicate mountain ranges. The sphere is pivoted at the poles inside a metal ring to permit rotation of the sphere (globe). That ring is, in turn, pivoted to a half ring to permit tilting of the sphere. The half ring is fastened to a round metal base. Besides the printing of the names of features and ocean currents is a table showing distance measurements and a key to the colors indicating elevations. At the top of the table is "DG III Globe Visual Relief 30 centimeters - 12 Inches, Scale 1:42,000,000". At the bottom of the table is "Published and [copyright symbol] by Denoyer-Geppert, Chicago 60640, Printed in United States". There is a movable ring at the north pole to show time differences. The time ring is bent out of shape. At several points, the paper is scuffed or separated from the sphere. On the base is printed in felt pen "Nisqually Middle school". On the base and on the full ring is evidence of something that was pasted on but is now removed.Made/Created
