Homes of the Year, 1975. These twelve black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using three separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show the exterior of a single-story, rambler-style home with an attached garage on the right-hand side. The home is L-shaped, with the part extending toward the camera on the left-hand side. The left-hand side which extends toward the camera has a brick facade on either end of the wall facing the camera. There is a large, three-piece window at the center of the house, and the front door is to the left of this window.
The images in group "b" show a large, house with a two-story section at the center and a single-story wing extending to the left and right from this central section. Four large, square posts support a roof which overhangs the front side of the central section. The front door is a double door, and it is on the left-hand side of the central section. The single-story wings both have brick facades.
The images in group "c" show the same house seen in group "b." These images show the front side, back side and inside of the home. Image 10c shows a man standing in front of the central portion of the home. The man is balding and is wearing a button-up shirt and slacks. He is reaching out to touch a light post in front of the house with his right hand. A small bush is partially visible in the bottom-right corner of the image.Made/Created
