Description

Folding paper and plastic Japanese hand fan. The accession file states that this fan is a gift to the City of Lacey from the mayor of the city of Yashiro, Japan. Ten black plastic sticks are pinned together so that they can swivel to form a fan shape. Sewed onto the top and bottom stick is a paper (almost cardboard) that is folded so that it lies flat on each of the other sticks, and permits the fan to be opened almost flat or closed to form a single stick. The paper is gold in color with pictures of swans on one side with a bit of red color, and on the other side are flowers and a wheeled vehicle with some red color.
