Flagpole Sitter, 1974. This single black and white contact print strip was rehoused in a new acid-free sleeve. These images show a young man seated on a chair built on top of a slender tree trunk with the limbs cut off. Image 31 shows a sign which reads "Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Flagpole Sitting." This sign is in a grassy field. Three young men are visible standing in the background to the left of the sign. Image 32 shows the young man seated on top of the pole. Several ropes or wires are attached to the pole for stability. This image looks up toward the young man on the pole. Open sky occupies the background of the image. Image 33 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has moved to their left by several feet. Here a large deciduous tree occupies approximately 2/3 of the background. Image 34 shows the young man on the pole from a greater distance. A grassy area occupies the bottom 1/4 of the image, and several large trees occupy most of the background.Made/Created
