Description

Metal hand-operated can opener. The largest piece of the assembly is a handle formed by two pieces of metal riveted together and closed at the larger end. At the other end the two pieces are not closed and hold between them by means of a larger rivet a wheel with teeth to grip the can, and a blade fixed to a moveable (eccentric) plate. Stamped on the handle are the words "Clou Germany". Some of the black paint has worn off. This may have been an item that was brought home from the war as it is German and according to a couple of internet sales of similar type, itwas the type of can opener issued to German soldiers in WWII.
