Flower Show, 1974. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show six older people posing for photos in a garden. Image 13 shows an older woman with glasses wearing her hair up and wearing a dress. She is seated next to a rose bush. She is holding the stem of a large rose on the bush. Her head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. She is looking down at the rose. Hanging flower baskets and a brick wall are visible behind her. Image 14 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has moved approximately two feet to their left. The woman's body is oriented more toward the camera in this image, and she is looking toward the camera and smiling. A sliding glass door is visible in the right-hand side of the background. Image 15 shows the woman from the previous two images, one other older woman and two older men posing for a photo with a hanging flower bush. The woman from the previous two images is at left, and is facing directly toward the camera and smiling. An older, balding man with glasses wearing a plaid blazer is standing behind this woman. He is also looking toward the camera and smiling. To the right of the two people just described is a hanging flower bush. To the right of this bush is an older woman with glasses wearing a long, floral-print shirt. She is facing toward the left-hand side of the image frame. To the right of this woman is an older man in a pinstriped blazer. He is also facing toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 16 is very similar to the previous image, but here the people to the right of the bush have turned toward the camera. Image 17 is similar to the previous two images, but here the photographer has moved approximately seven feet to the left. Here the two people to the left of the bush are facing toward the right-hand side of the image, and the people to the right of the bush are facing toward the camera. Image 18 shows the man in the pinstriped blazer crouching amongst a large amount of foliage. Image 19 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has back away from or zoomed out from the man. Here the man's legs are visible. Image 20 shows the four people seen in images 15 through 17 gathered around a flower bush. The woman in the long shirt is to the left of the bush and is facing toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Standing in the background and partially obscured behind the bush are the woman with her hair up and the man in the plaid blazer. Both are facing toward the camera. To the right of the bush is the man in the pinstriped blazer. He is facing toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 21 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has panned downward slightly. Image 22 shows the four people seen in the previous image, plus one additional older woman and one additional older man, all standing behind a flower bush. Image ? (the physical numbers on this strip are obscured by dark blobbing along the edge of the strip) shows the woman in the long, floral-print shirt sitting on the ground next to a flower bush. She is cupping one of the flowers with her right hand. Her head and body are oriented toward the left-hand side of the image frame. The final image on this strip is cut off, but the portion remaining shows flowers.Made/Created
