Black and white negative of a locomotive. A railroad track is in the foreground and a head-end view of the locomotive is in the center. Beginning at the bottom, there is a cow catcher in front of the frame and coupling levers. Above the cow catcher is a coupler. The round boiler has rivets around the outside and clamps in the center to close the pipe door. In that center portion is the number "56". There is a pipe bracket holding two marker lights, and at the top is a head light. Part of a freight car is visible on one side, and a telephone pole and wire is visible on the other. Trees are in the background. There is a white border on all sides, and in the bottom border is "Olympia #822 7/12/37".
The negative is inserted, along with a print of the image, into a cream colored envelope that has typed "Olympia 7/12/37 Front view - No. 56". Stamped is "822" and "indexed".Made/Created
