Description

Unidentified, Unknown Dates. These twenty-four film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using many separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a town meeting taking place. The images in group "b" show a meeting, which may be one of the meetings seen in group "a." The images in group "c" show a group of children and several adults engaged in what appears to be a "Pioneer Days"-type set of educational activities. The images in group "d" show five men and two women all in business attire posing together for a group photo in front of a sign on the side of a building which reads "SOUTH SOUND REALTY." Three people are in the front row: the man at the center and one woman to either side. All of the people in the back row are men. All of the people are looking toward the camera and smiling. The images in group "e" show a man (Mike Kreidler) posing for portrait photos, two men performing an eye exam on a little girl, and two men crouched down in a large area filled with many potted plants. The images in group "f" show children sitting on Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus's laps, a storefront, and a man cutting a birthday cake and opening presents. The images in group "g" show a large wetland area, which may be the Nisqually River delta. The images in group "h" show scenes from a Capital Lakefair parade. The images in group "i" show what appears to be a small clay figurine. This figurine consists of a face with very small eyes, one hand laying on each side of the face, legs and a hat similar to a newsboy cap with a small tassel on the top. The images in group "j" show a man's lower face and torso in front of a wall with plaques or similar items hanging on it; and two older women, one holding a dog and the other holding valentines. The images in group "k" show two women holding a plaque, and separately two men holding a different plaque. The images in group "l" show a man pointing at a map and a desk with no one sitting at it. The images in group "m" show a four-piece rock band posing for photos outside of the Chinese Garden restaurant. From left to right are: the electric bass player, the drummer, the electric guitarist and the acoustic guitarist/vocalist. The images in group "n" show a little boy at the steering wheel of a large vehicle, likely a fire engine.
