Tumwater Cheerleaders, 1975. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show an outdoor high school cheerleading practice, and a baseball game. Image 28 shows three young women standing in a lawn outside of what is presumably Tumwater High School. All three young women are looking at the camera. A portion of a brick wall is in the near foreground along the left-hand edge of the image. Image 29 shows the same three young women from the previous image either stretching their arms or performing part of a routine. Image 35 shows two of the young women with their arms up over their heads. The third young woman is partially visible at the left-hand edge of the image. Image 36 shows one of the young women either stretching her arms or performing part of a routine. Image 37 shows two of the young women doing a high kick. The third young woman is partially visible along the left-hand edge of the image, and also appears to be kicking. Image 38 shows three young women holding their arms bent at the elbow and up over their heads. These are not the same young women seen in the previous images. Image 39 shows seven young people standing in a rough row and performing part of a cheerleading routine with various levels of effort. Image 40 shows two young women sitting on a walkway along a wall of the school. Image 41 shows six women and two men engaged in cheerleading practice. Two of the young women are laying on the ground. Image 42 is very similar to image 40, but here the two young women have moved closer together. Images 43 and 44 show a baseball game or practice in progress.Made/Created
