Unidentified People, 1973. These ten black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using three separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show scenes from a rehearsal or publicity shots for a stage play version of "Dracula" put on by KRS Enterprises. Image 37a shows a man (Tom Howdeshell) acting in the role of Dracula. He has false eyebrows painted on his forehead and is wearing a cloak tied at the neck with a rope. Image 38a shows the man laying in an open coffin. His eyes are closed and his hand are folded over his mid-torso. Image 39a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 40a shows the man sitting up in the coffin and looking toward the camera. The man is grasping the side of the coffin with his right hand. He is looking to his right toward the camera. Image 41a is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has moved several feet to the right. The man is still looking toward the camera. Image 42a is very similar to images 38a and 39a, but here the photographer has zoomed in or moved closer to the man's face. Image 43a is very similar to image 42a, but here the man's eyes are open and he is looking at the camera. The photographer has also again moved closer to or zoomed in on the man's face. Image 7a is very similar to image 6a, but here the man is raising both hands up. The fingers of both hands are curled inward in a claw-like position. Image 8a is very similar to image 7a, but here the man's hands are oriented more toward the camera. Image 9a shows the man grasping the side edges of his cloak and raising them outward and up. His head is also lowered. He is shown from the mid-torso up. Image 10a is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has zoomed out or moved away from the man.
