Description

Unidentified People, Unknown Dates. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using three separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show children working on art projects, one woman posing for portrait-style photos, and another woman seated at an office desk. Image 24a shows one girl and one boy each working on their own art project. Both children are on the right-hand side of the image, and they are both looking toward the camera. A table with their art projects on it is on the left-hand side of the image. The girl is working on a drawing on birds and the boy is working on some kind of assemblage art. Images 25a through 27a are nearly identical to image 24a. Image 28a shows an older woman with fairly short, loosely curled hair wearing glasses, a very long looped string of pearls or similar round items, and a sweater posing for a portrait-style photo. Her head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. She is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 29a is nearly identical to the previous images. Image 30a is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has moved back or zoomed out from the woman. Here she is shown from the waist up. Image 31a is very similar to images 28a and 29a, but here the woman's head and body are oriented toward the left-hand side of the image. Here she is also not smiling. Image 32a is nearly identical to image 31a. Image 33a shows a woman with medium-length, wavy hair seated at an office desk. Only the woman's head and shoulders are visible, and she is facing toward the right-hand side of the image. A lamp and an adding machine are visible on the left-hand side of the image. The room is wood-paneled. Image 34a shows the woman from the previous image facing toward the camera. She is smiling. She is shown from the mid-torso up. Image 35a is similar to the previous image, but here the woman is not smiling and her torso is turned more toward the right-hand side of the image frame. The images in group "b" show two men posing individually for photos. Image 20b shows a man with medium-length, wavy hair and a mustache wearing glasses, a plaid jacket and patterned tie. He is facing toward the camera, and he is holding his hands up in front of him. He is touching the fingertips or both hands together. Image 21b shows the same man from the previous image. His head and body are turned most of the way toward the right-hand side of the image, and he is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 22b is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 23b shows a man with shoulder-length, straight hair and a mustache wearing glasses, a collared shirt and an apron standing in front of a shelf filled with small jars. He is shown from the chest-up. His head and torso are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image. He is not smiling. Image 24b is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 25b is very similar to the previous two images, but here the man is looking off toward the right of the camera. Image 28b shows a man with slightly wavy, medium-length hair wearing glasses, a blazer with flaps over the breast pockets, and a patterned tie. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image. He is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 29b is very similar to the previous image, but here the man's head and body are turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 30b is nearly identical to the previous image. Printed in alternation along one long edge of each of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
