Abbey Players, 1974. This single black and white contact print strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a man (David Asia, as King Sextimus the Silent) and a woman (Sharry O'Hare, as Queen Aggravain) in medieval costumes posing individually for photos. In all of these images, a stage backdrop meant to look like the interior of a castle is visible in the background. These images were presumably captured at the Abbey Theater, located on the Saint Martin's campus in Lacey, Washington. These two actors were involved in a production of "Once Upon A Mattress" at the Abbey Theater. Image 38 shows a woman dressed as a medieval queen posing for a photo. She is wearing a crown and a wrap around her head. Her head and torso are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image. She is looking off toward the right of the camera and she is smiling. She is shown from the mid-torso up. Image 39 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 40 is very similar to the previous two images, but here the woman appears to be speaking. Image 41 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 42 shows a man with thinning hair and a large beard posing for a photo. He is wearing a robe with an elaborate trim over a shirt with an elaborate pattern. He is facing directly toward the camera and looking longingly at the camera. He is shown from the mid-torso up. Image 43 is similar to the previous image, but here the man has tipped his head backward and has an angry look on his face.Made/Created
