Description

Wooden cabinet containing a 6-tube battery powered radio. There is a hinged lid on the cabinet, and inside is a metal frame containing electronic parts. On the top of the metal frame are 6 vacuum tubes and other parts such as a fuse, condenser, coil, etc. On the front of the cabinet is a brass plate that says "Kolster Radio" and a dial showing the frequency that the radio is tuned to. There are also three knobs: one is labeled "volume" and "On" and "Off", a second knob is labeled "sensitivity" and has the numbers 1, 2, and 3. The center knob has no label. Extending from the back of the cabinet is a cable enclosing various wires for attachment to an antenna, to ground, and to the battery contacts. Inside the lid is a metal plate the has the words "Kolster Radio Receiver 6 D", 6 patent numbers and patent information, and the words "manufactured by Federal Telegraph Co." and "Brandes Products Corp for Federal Brandes, Inc., Newark, New Jersey".
