Description

Jessie Marls, Unknown Date. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show an older woman (Jessie Marls) seated in front of an easel and working on a painting. She has short, curly hair worn up. She is wearing glasses, a short-sleeved cardigan, slacks and a necklace. Image 12 shows Ms. Marls seated in front of the easel. She is on the left-hand side of the image and facing toward the right-hand side of the image. The painting is on the right-hand side of the image. The painting is of a mountainous lake scene. Image 13 shows Ms. Marls reaching a paint brush toward the canvas with her right hand. The photographer has moved approximately two feet toward their left in relation to the previous image. Image 14 is nearly identical to image 13. Image 15 is very similar to image 12, but here Ms. Marls is reaching her paint brush toward the canvas. Images 16 and 17 are nearly identical to image 15. Image 18 is very similar to the previous two images, but here Ms. Marls is turning to look toward the camera. Printed at intervals along the right-hand long edge of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
