Description

Unidentified People, 1978. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips have been repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show two women and one man posing individually for portrait-style photos. Image 14a shows a woman with medium-length, very curly hair wearing a knit hooded sweater with horizontal stripes at the shoulders.. Her head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. She is looking toward the camera and laughing. Image 15a is very similar to the previous image, but here she is smiling but does not appear to be laughing. Image 16a is very similar to the two previous images, but here the woman's head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Here she is not smiling, but her mouth is opened slightly. Image 17a is very similar to the previous image, but here the young woman is smiling. Image 18a shows a young man with medium-length hair and bangs wearing a sweater with four diamond-shapes across the chest. His head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. He is smiling slightly and looking off toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 19a is very similar to the previous image, but here the young man is tipping his head backward slightly. Image 20a is very similar to image 18a, but here his head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 21a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 22a shows a woman with medium-length, straight hair which is curled inward at the ends. Her bangs descend across her forehead from left to right. She is wearing a collared shirt with a floral pattern on it. Her head and body are turned slightly toward the right-hand side of the image frame. She is smiling and her eyes are nearly closed. Image 23a is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman's eyes are open and her mouth is also open slightly. Image 24a is similar to image 23a, but here the woman's head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 25a is nearly identical to image 24a. The images in group "b" show a man in a suit and striped tie posing for photos with a tobacco pipe in his hand. Image 22b shows the man with his head and body turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and smiling. The stem of the pipe is entering the image from the left-hand side. There is a brick wall behind the man. The man is shown from the chest up. Image 23b is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is shown from the waist up. Image 24b is very similar to image 22b, but here the man is looking off toward the left of the camera. Printed at intervals along one long edge of each of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
