Description

Gold colored medallion with a loop for holding keys attached by a chain. The medallion is inside a burgundy colored velvet box. On one side of the medallion is an image of a torch and a building and the words "United States Olympic Academy". On the other side are images of leaves on a branch and the words "Building the Olympic Spirit, Olympia, USA, Founders edition". The box has a spring-loaded lid covered by velvet. the inside bottom of the box is metal. Inside the lid is a folded paper that says on the front "Certificate of Authenticity, United States Olympic Academy Founders Edition Medal. Inside the folded paper is a lengthy text describing the medal and the occasion of its minting and a signature of the Mintmaster. On the back of the paper are specifications of the medal, some of which has been crossed out in ink. The occasion of the minting was the 1984 Olympic marathon trials in Olympia and an effort to bring the Olympic Hall of Fame to Olympia.
