Black and white negative of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge under construction. In the foreground are some bare trees and a rough shack that appears to have a tar-paper roof. Behind that is the eastern tower with another tower visible in the background. Cables and a catwalk are overhead, and the far shore is visible in the distance. There is a white border on all sides, and in the bottom border is "#2011 1/20/40".
The negative is inserted, along with a print of the image, into a cream colored envelope that has typed "January 20, 1940 Narrows Bridge at Tacoma View to the west from directly under the cables on the east shore -- showing piers and catwalk". Stamped is "2011" and "indexed".Made/Created
