2007-012.B389PDescription
Saint Martin's College Capital Pavilion, 1973. This single black and white contact print strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show workers either putting up or taking down some of the large letters which spell out "CAPITAL PAVILION" on the front exterior of the Capital Pavilion on the Saint Martin's campus. These contact prints do not match the corresponding film negatives (B389N) and there are no physical numbers on this contact print strip, so numbers will be assigned to the images. The images will be numbered 1 through 4, from left to right. Image 1 shows the front of the Capital Pavilion. Almost the entirety of the front side is visible in this image. Two men on ladders are working on putting up or removing the "V" in "Capital Pavilion" from the front of the building. One man is holding the bottom of these ladders. A third ladder to the right of the other ladders is up, but not being used. A fourth man is crouching down to the right of the unused ladders. These ladders are set up on the top of a roof/cover which goes along the front of the building. Two pickup trucks and a car are visible parked in front of the building near where the men are working. Image 2 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 3 shows a much closer-up view of the men removing or mounting the "V." The man holding the ladders' head and shoulders are visible at the bottom edge of the image. Image 4 is similar to image 3, but here the photographer has panned upward somewhat. The man holding the ladders is not visible in this image.Made/Created
