Description

Office Staff, 1976. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images individually show five women and one man working in an office. It is unclear what business this office houses, but a note on the sleeve reads "KGY?" The office also bears similarities to the first Lacey Leader office location. Image 20 shows a woman with loosely-curled, fairly short hair wearing a shirt with a pattern made up of various buildings and wooded areas. This woman is seated at a desk with a ledger-type book in front of her. Her left hand is reaching toward some files standing vertically at the far end of the desk. Her right hand is holding a pen or pencil and resting on top of the ledger. The woman's head is turned away from the camera, and her torso is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 21 is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman's face is turned toward the right-hand side of the image and she is shown in profile. Here she is also not reaching toward the files. Image 22 shows a bearded man with medium-length, loosely-curled hair seated at a desk. He is wearing a horizontally-striped polo shirt. He is leaning forward and writing on a legal pad. His head is resting on his left hand. Image 23 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 24 shows a woman with straight hair tied at the back wearing glasses and a blouse with a patterned front speaking on a telephone. Her head and body are facing toward the left-hand side of the image. A closed door is visible behind the woman, and a desk is partially visible in the bottom-right corner of the image. Image 26 shows the same woman in the same pose as in the previous two images, but here the photographer has moved approximately two feet to their left. Here the woman is facing more away from the camera. Image 27 shows a young woman with long, straight hair parted at the center wearing a sleeveless, horizontally-striped shirt seated at a desk. The young woman is smiling and her eyes are partially closed. Image 28 shows a woman with very long, thick hair wearing glasses and a plaid shirt. Her head and body are turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Her face is mostly obscured by her hair. Image 29 shows a young woman with straight hair in two braids at her back seated in front of a complex-looking piece of equipment which appears somewhat similar to a microfilm viewer. The woman's head and body are turned toward the left-hand side of the image. She is leaning forward in her chair toward the piece of equipment. She is manipulating the piece of equipment with both hands. Printed in alternation along one long edge of both of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
