Description

Black and white negative of an oil barge built by Reliable Welding ready for launching. There is gravel in the foreground with various objects scattered around. There are two sets of rails mounted on ties, and various wooden beams between them. Above that is the barge. It has a light colored hull with a darker portion at the bottom. On the hull is "OIL N21" and the numbers "1, 2, and 3". Frames, railings, and pipes are visible on the top of the barge. Behind the barge are telephone poles. There is a white border on all sides, and in the bottom border is "#2199 3/15/41" The negative is inserted, along with a print of the image, into a cream colored envelope that has typed "3/15/41 - Olympia Steel Oil Barge built by Reliable Welding Works ready for launching. Length 120, Beam 34, Depth amidships 4, Capacity 100,000 gals of oil". Stamped is "2199" and "indexed".
