Description

Black and white photo of a small barge ready to be launched. The barge is in the center of the photo and its bow end rises in a small curve. The hull is a light color with the portion presumably below the water line darker. On the hull is painted "Polaris No. 6" and the numbers 1, 2, and 3. The barge is resting on a wooden beam, which, in turn, is resting on two 6-wheeled trucks that run on rails. There is a metal or wooden framework on the beam and above the deck of the barge. Behind the barge are parts of buildings and telephone poles and wires.. There is a silhouette of a man in the lower right corner of the print. There is a white border on all sides, and in the bottom border is "#2505 6/27/41". On the back is "038F". The photo is inserted, along with a negative of the image, into a cream colored envelope that has typed "6/27/41 - Olympia Small scow built by Reliable Welding Works -- quarter view". Stamped is "2505" and "indexed".
