Mugs Shaped Like Faces, 1977. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show ceramic mugs created to look like faces and small figures.
Image 3 shows three small face mugs igrouped together in the foreground and one larger face mug in the left-hand side of the background. All four of these mugs depict men wearing hats. Image 4 shows one face mug at center which resembles a pirate. To the right is a smaller mug depicting a woman with curled hair. At left is a full-body figurine which may or may not function as a mug. Image 5 shows the full-body figurine and the pirate face mug from the previous image. Image 6 shows the pirate face mug and the woman with curly hair face mug from image 4. Images 7 and 8 are nearly identical to image 6. Image 9 shows only the pirate face mug. Image 10 shows the full-body figurine seen in images 4 and 5. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 11 is very similar to the previous image, but here the image is oriented vertically. Image 12 shows a face mug depicting an old man in the bottom-left corner of the image, and an edition of "Oliver Twist" with an illustration of a boy on the front on the right-hand side of the image. Image 14 shows four small face mugs and one larger face mug. The larger face mug is second from left. A book is standing open in the background. An illustration occupies the right-hand visible page of the book. Image 15 shows the three smaller face mugs seen in image 3. Image 16 shows two figurines and one face mug. The mug is at center. Behind the mug is a different edition of Oliver Twist than that seen in image 12. Image 17 shows the face mug and right-hand figurine from the previous image. The Oliver Twist book is still behind them. Image 18 shows a Santa Claus face mug and a small figurine. Image 19 shows two face mugs and two very small figurines. The figurines also have small handles on them, so they may function as cream pitchers. Image 20 shows one face mug and two figurines. The right-hand figurine is only partially in the image frame. A copy of Oliver Twist is in the background. Image 21 is nearly identical to image 20.Made/Created
