People, Some Unidentified, 1976. These four black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so two of the images share the same physical number (37). For the purposes of this description, one of these images will be referred to as 37a, and the other as 37b.
Image 32 shows four women and two men posing together for a group photograph. Three of the women are at left, and one is on the far right. The woman on the far left is wearing a nametag which reads "Jean Towne." The two men are standing near the center of the image, one in front of the other. The man in back is much taller than anyone else in the picture. The tall man is wearing a large pinback button on his jacket lapel which reads "Marvin Durning for Governor." This man is Marvin Durning. This image was captured at Panorama City. Image 33 is very similar to the previous image, but here the man other than Marvin Durning is not in the image. The three women to the left of Mr. Durning have also changed positions slightly. Image 34 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 35 shows Mr. Durning shaking Jean Towne's hand. Towne is on the left, and Durning is on the right. Image 36 shows a man with glasses seated in a disc jockey booth. He is facing toward the microphone and is looking at a printed document in his hands. He is facing toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 37a shows the man from the previous image looking through some documents. His body is oriented toward the camera and he is looking downward. Image 37b shows three women posing for a group photo with a display of paintings and fabric art pieces. There are also three children in the image. Two women and two children are on the left-hand side of the image, and one woman and one child are on the right-hand side of the image. The items in the display include: two macrame owls, other smaller macrame pieces, two pillows, a quilt, and three paintings. This image was captured outside of a brick building. Images 38 and 39 are nearly identical to image 37b. Image 40 shows the display of paintings and fabric arts pieces seen in the previous images, but none of the women or children are in the image.Made/Created
