Rainbow Check, 1976. This single black and white film negative strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show three women posing together with a bank check, and the back side of several political campaign signs.
Image 43 shows three women standing in a row and posing for a photo. The women on the left and the right are elderly and are wearing glasses and blazers, the woman at center is younger and is wearing a hooded knit top. The woman at center and the woman at right are both holding onto the check, which is turned toward the camera. Most of the text on the check is too small to read, but it appears to read "Rainier Bank" in the lower-left corner. Images 44 and 1 are nearly identical to the previous image. Image 2 shows the back side of several political signs of various sizes alongside a road. A car is visible passing on the road on the right-hand side of the image. A tipped-over sign in the lower-right corner of the image reads "We're pulling for Durning." Image 3 is very similar to the previous image, but here there is no car within the image frame.
Marvin Durning was a Democratic candidate for governor of Washington State in the 1976 election.
Printed in alternation along the bottom of this strip is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."Made/Created
