Description

Five early pictures taken at St. Martin's College. One shows the KGY "shack" with its earlier call letters 7YS as well as the KGY on its side; in the background many of the St. Martin's buildings that will ultimately surround it are just beginning construction while parked next to the "shack" is a car with the license plate "15132". Two other pictures show the inside of a living room, with a fireplace, that may be from the KGY cabin that replaced the KGY shack in 1925 (a microphone stand appears to be in the foreground of one of these pictures along with a poster of a parrot saying "Kant Get You"). Another picture in this set shows a kitchen/serving area with glassware on shelves, a teapot, coffee cans and a cake with candles, and a box of SOS pads; there is an unidentified person doing some cleaning or food prep in this area. Finally, there is a picture of about nine men and/or monks in gardening or surveying a piece of land on the SMC campus-- either to the SE or SW corner of the main building.

Context

KGY was begun in Lacey on the St. Martin's campus; St. Martin's College is one of the first institutions in what is now Lacey
