Lacey Library, 1977. This single black and white film negative strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show adults (including librarian Mary Russell) and children in the Lacey Library (when it was located in the Lacey Village Shopping Center).
Image 16 shows a woman (Mary Russell) standing next to a row of waist-height bookshelves filled with books. She is resting her right hand on top of some of the books. She is wearing a floral-patterned dress and a nametag. There are many shelves filled with books visible in the background. Image 17 shows a girl with two braids wearing a striped shirt and pants holding a book and looking down at it. A woman wearing a sweater with her hands on her hips is visible in the background looking over at the girl reading. Image 18 shows a girl looking at a hamster or similar animal in a small plastic cage. The cage is on top of a shelf which is at eye-level to the girl. Only the girl's face and hands are visible in the image. Image 19 shows 6-7 children sitting or laying on the floor and watching a movie on a film projector. Two of the children are sitting in low chairs shaped like kangaroos. One woman is kneeling down to the left of the children and one woman is standing to the right of the children. All of these people are facing away from the camera. The picture projected by the projector is visible on a whale-shaped painting or decal on the wall.
