Description

17 digital photographs of the Ruddell Pioneer Cemetery in Lacey. This cemetery is located in the city of Lacey, at the intersection of Ruddell Road SE and Mullen Road SE. It was established about 1850 on donated land that was once part of the Stephen D. Ruddell Donation Land Claim. There were a few graves here before 1850. The iron fence and gate was donated by Mr. Gwin Hicks, an early State Printer. There ae many unmarked graves and several graves of unknown persons. In 1967, Ann and Tim Burgman purchased the cemetery and adjacent property with the stipulation that descendants of pioneers could continue to be buried there free of charge and that Woodlawn would provide perpetual care of the pioneers' burial plots. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
