Lakefair, Unknown Dates. These six black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show concrete walls, a cracked car windshield, a man at the wheel of an automobile, gas pumps, and a man walking on a slackline. Image 7a shows a blurry shot of a wall. Images 8a and 9a show a concrete wall. Image 10a shows a car windshield with a small crack in it. Image 11a shows a man with a mustache in profile behind the wheel of an automobile. Images 14a through 22a all show the man on the slackline from various angles. Images 23a and 24a show two gas pumps at a gas station.
The images in group "b" show three people parachuting into a large grassy area adjacent to the Washington State Capitol building, and shots from a parade. Image 7b shows a person in the air with a deployed parachute. Image 8b is very similar to the previous image, but here the person is closer to the camera. Image 9b shows the person with the parachute only a few feet off the ground. Image 10b shows a different person in the air with a deployed parachute. Image 11b shows this person only a few feet off of the ground. Image 12b shows a third person in the air with a deployed parachute. Image 13b shows the person closer to the ground. Image 14b shows the person only a few feet from the ground. Image 15b shows many people seated in a row of lawnchairs alongside a road. The people are facing away from the camera, and the road is in the image foreground. The capitol's rotunda is visible in the distance. Image 16b shows approximately 25 people in a row alongside a road. Some of the people are seated in chairs, and some are seated on the sidewalk and curb. These people are facing toward the camera. A portion of a road is visible at the bottom of the image. Image 22b shows a Lakefair float with four young women in formal dresses riding on it. There is a model of the capitol building at the front of the float. Pictures of three historic buildings are also on the float. The actual capitol building is visible in the background.
