Lakefair Princesses and Parents, 1979. These four black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show five of the six 1979 Lakefair queen candidates posing together for group photos, two of the candidates posing individually, and these same two candidates posing with their parents. All of the candidates are wearing matching floral-print blouses. These images appear to have been taken at the Tyee Motor Inn. All of those pictured are standing on an outdoor walkway which overlooks a pool and several of the hotel's buildings.
Image 27 shows the five candidates posing together in a group photo. The lighting is poor in this image, making it difficult to see the women's faces. The lighting in image 28 is even worse than in the previous image. Image 29 shows the same scene as the previous two images, but here the women's faces are visible. From left to right, these young women are: Diana Knuckey, Geni Gylys, Julie Sherrell, Stacey Montgomery, and Chris Lambert. (It is unclear why the sixth candidate, Karen Rodgers, was not included in these images.) Images 30 through 33 are nearly identical to image 29. Image 34 shows Julie Sherrell at center with an older woman at the left and an older man at the right. Images 35 and 36 are nearly identical to image 34. Image 37 and 38 show Ms. Sherrell posing individually for photos. Image 39 shows Stacey Montgomery at center with an older woman on the left and an older man on the right. Image 40 is nearly identical to the previous image. Images 41 and 42 show Stacey Montgomery posing individually. Image 43 shows Geni Gylys at center, an older woman at left and an older man at right. The right-hand two-thirds of image 44 is cut off, but the visible portion is identical to that of image 43.Made/Created
