MAD Festival Princesses, 1979. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show an event which appears to have highlighted the MAD Fest queen candidates, but also included a performance by Johnny Lewis's band. The event appears to have been emceed by Dick Pust. In these images the candidates are wearing matching long, sleeveless gowns with sashes showing which company or group each candidate was representing. Dick Pust and Johnny Lewis's band are all in formal attire. The event appears to have taken place in the lobby of a bank.
Image 19 shows Johnny Lewis's band playing. Mr. Lewis is at the far left playing saxophone. To the right of Mr. Lewis are an electric guitarist and an electric bassist. Two female backup singers are standing at the rear. Images 20 and 21 show the audience for the performance. The Mad Fest queen candidates are occupying the front rows, while general attendees are seated in the rest of the rows. Image 22 again shows the band playing. Images 23 and 24 show Dick Pust standing and speaking into a microphone. Image 25 again shows the audience. Images 26 through 28 show the queen candidates arranged in two rows for group photos. Four candidates are seated in the front row and six candidates are standing in the back row.
