Description

Pizza Parlors, 1978. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show interior and exterior shots of Pietro's Gold Coast Pizza, Pizza Haven, Pizza Hut and Dirty Dave's. Image 25 shows a portrait-style photo of a man wearing a suit and tie posing in front of a brick wall. Here the man is visible from the chest-up. Image 26 is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is visible from the waist-up. He is also holding a tobacco pipe in his right hand. Image 27 shows a sign which reads "Welcome to the Gold Coast the Family Pizza Parlor." A portion of a door is visible at the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 28 shows a seated woman wearing a button-up shirt. Her hands are folded on top of the table in front of her. She is wearing a nametag which reads "Pietro's" and "JUDY." Image 29 is very similar to the previous image, but here the table in front of the woman is visible. Image 30 is blank. Image 31 shows an exterior shot of the Pietro's Gold Coast Pizza parlor. Three cars are parked in front of the building. Image 32 shows a man in a short-sleeved, button-up shirt standing behind a counter. He is wearing a tag similar to an award ribbon on his shirt. The top of the ribbon appears to read "Pizza Hut." Farther down on the ribbon it reads "Let yourself go. Say Super Supreme." Image 33 shows a man in a commercial kitchen spreading pizza sauce on a pizza crust. Image 34 shows an exterior shot of the Pizza Haven pizza parlor. Several automobiles are parked in front of the building. Image 35 shows what appears to be smoke or perhaps a flame coming up off the top of a stove in a commercial kitchen. The smoke or flame is going up into a vent hood above the stove. Image 36 shows four unoccupied tables in a pizza parlor. Wall-mounted menus are shown in the background. Image 37 shows a commercial kitchen. Large stacks of plates and eating utensils are visible in the left-hand side of the image foreground. Image 38 shows a man either putting a pizza in a pizza oven or removing it. Image 39 shows a man and a woman putting together salads at a salad bar. Image 40 shows a man in an apron touching a plate with a food item on it. This man is facing away from the camera. A second man, wearing a blazer, is standing on the far side of the counter and facing the man in the apron. Image 41 shows an exterior shot of the Dirty Dave's pizza parlor. Three cars are visible parked in the parking lot. Image 42 shows an interior shot of what appears to be Dirty Dave's. The wall has many, many posters of various kinds hung on it. The largest of the posters shows Richard Nixon. This poster also reads "Would you buy a used car from this man?" and "Nixon for Dog Catcher." Image 43 shows three people seated at a bar-style counter at the Dirty Dave's pizzeria. One man in a stocking cap is visible behind the counter on the right-hand side of the image. Image 44 shows more of the posters on the wall at Dirty Dave's. The right-hand 1/3 of the image is blank. Printed along one long edge of each of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
