Description

Lacey City Council, 1978. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show Lacey City Attorney Ken Ahlf reading a document to four Lacey City Council members (Bob Jensen, Bill Bush, Karen Fraser and Archie Knowles), and these city council members signing a document. Several other people are present in the room, including Ron Rowe. These images were presumably captured at the Lacey City Hall. These images likely show a swearing-in ceremony for the city council members. Image 3 shows Ken Ahlf on the left-hand side standing and reading a document to four Lacey City Council members, who are lined up against a wall on the right-hand side of the image frame. These council members are, from left to right: Bob Jensen, Bill Bush, Karen Fraser and Archie Knowles. Approximately ten other unknown people are visible in the background. Image 4 is very similar to the previous images, but here the photographer has moved closer to Mr. Ahlf. Image 5 is very similar to the previous two images, but here the photographer is standing behind and to the right of Mr. Ahlf. Image 6 the same scene as the previous images, but here the photographer has backed away from the group of people and may be seated at a desk. A portion of the desk is visible in the bottom-right quadrant of this image. Image 7 is nearly identical to image 6. Image 8 is very similar to the previous two images, but here Mr. Ahlf and the council members are looking toward the camera. Image 9 shows Karen Fraser on the right-hand side of the image leaning over a desk and signing a document on the desk. Ken Ahlf is on the left-hand side of the image leaning over and watching the signing. Image 10 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has panned to the right slightly. Mr. Ahlf's face is partially visible in the top-right corner of the image. Image 11 shows Archie Knowles leaning over the desk and signing a document. Ken Ahlf is on the left-hand side of the image leaning forward slightly. Ms. Fraser is visible behind and to the left of Mr. Knowles, and Bill Bush is visible behind and to the right of Mr. Knowles. Immediately behind Mr. Knowles, and almost completely obscured by him is a woman who may be Jo Gauthier. Image 12 is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman who may be Jo Gauthier is visible in profile and facing toward the left-hand side of the image. She is speaking to a man who may be Tom Huntamer. Karen Fraser is partially visible standing behind the man who may be Tom Huntamer. Image 13 shows Bill Bush leaning over the desk and signing the document. Karen Fraser, the man who may be Tom Huntamer, and the woman who may be Jo Gauthier are still visible in the background. Images 14 and 15 are very similar to image 13, but here Bob Jensen is signing the document. Printed at intervals along one long edge of each of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILm 5063."
