MAD Festival, Unknown Dates. These five black and white contact print strips were taken for the Lacey Leader Newspaper.
Images 3 and 4 are very similar and show three couples in costume dancing in what appears to be a ballet. Images 5 shows a couple in leotards dancing. Image 6 and 7 are similar and show two couples in costume dancing in what appers to be a ballet. Images 25-28 are similar and show a crowd of people milling around. In the foreground stands a clown talking to a small child in a stroller. Image 29 shows people standing around a number of vendor stalls. One stall is labeled, "Olympia Police Officers Guild." In the foreground stands a man holding a guitar case. Images 30 and 31 are similar and show a man doing a pottery demonstration on a pottery wheel. Several children stand around watching the demonstration. Image 32 shows what appears to be a young man skateboarding away from the camera. Several people and two police officers can be seen in the background. Images 4 and 5 (note: numbering repeats) are very similar and show six women wearing bathing suits and labeled sashes. In front of them stands a woman in a dress. Image 6 shows the six women lined up in a row. The women's sashes, from left to right read: Miss Lacey...(?), Miss Lacey Chambers, Miss South Sound, Miss Bank of ...(?), Miss Sheraton, Miss Greenwood. Image 7 shows all six women lined up, and a woman in a dress standing in front. Image 8 shows Miss South Sound from the chest up, several of the other women stand in the background. Image 9 shows Miss Sheraton in the foreground and several of the other women in the background. Image 10 shows a smiling Miss Greenwood. Image 11 shows a smiling Miss Lacey...(?).
