Unidentified, Unknown Dates. These six black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using five separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show a young man holding an illustration of a Christmas tree up next to his face with his right hand, and a large stack of what appears to be copies of the illustration in his left hand. This young man may be Brad Balsley. These images are likely related to the Christmas coloring contest that the Lacey Leader put on for children for a number of years. Image 23a shows the young man looking over toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 24a shows the young man looking sidelong toward the camera. Image 25a shows him looking toward the camera and smiling. Images 26a through 29a are effectively identical to image 25a.
The images on group "b" show a Cricket-brand lighter in its package and an unknown electronic device. Image 30b shows a Cricket-brand lighter in its package laying on a table. Image 31b is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 32b shows an unknown electronic device. It is shaped similarly to a microphone, has a slide switch on the side, and also has a power cord extending from the back end. Images 33b and 34b are nearly identical to image 32b.
The images in group "c" shows a woman browsing or folding clothes in a clothing or department store. The woman is wearing a buttoned-up cardigan with a horizontally striped pattern on the torso section. Image 41c shows the woman reaching forward with both hands. Both arms below the elbow are obscured behind an unknown object in the foreground. Image 42c shows the woman folding a long-sleeved sweatshirt. Image 43c shows the woman folding a hooded sweatshirt. Image 44c shows the woman holding a garment out in front of her.
The images in group "d" a man in a soccer uniform playing with a soccer ball. He is on a soccer field. Image 35d shows the man holding the soccer ball above his head and jumping. Image 36d is very similar to the previous image, but here the man's feet are on the ground. Images 37d and 38d show the man posing for photos with the soccer ball.
The images in group "e" show a woman holding a baby, and a baby sitting in a chair. All of these images were captured in a residential kitchen. Image 28e shows the woman holding the baby. The baby is at left and the woman is at right. The woman is shown from the chest-up. Image 29e is effectively identical to the previous image. Image 30e shows the baby sitting in a chair in front of a stove.
Printed in alternation along one long edge of each of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."Made/Created
