Description

Hydroplane Races on Capitol Lake, Unknown Date. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show hydroplane races on Capitol Lake, as well as spectators watching the race. These images were likely captured during a Lakefair celebration. Images 20 through 22 show hydroplanes racing on the lake. Images 23 and 24 show hydroplanes racing on the lake in the far distance. The Washington State Capitol building is visible in the background. Images 25-27 show hydroplane boats racing on the lake with the Washington State Capitol building visible in the background. Images 27-34 show hydroplanes racing on the lake. Some of the images also show spectators watching the race from the lakeshore. Image 35 shows people walking on the lakeshore. A carnival is visible on the far side of the lake. Images 36 and 37 are blank. Image 38 shows parachutes very high up in the air. Printed in alternation along one long edge of each of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
