Description

Sleeper 8 Motel Ground Breaking, 1-17-1980. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. They depict several people during the event. Some posed and some candid. Image 1 is a candid shot a several women on wither of side of table with corsages on it. Image 2-3 are posed group shots of four men standing in front of the "Super 8 Motel" sign. Three men wear "Super 8 Motel" name badges. One man has a hand written name tag that reads "Larry Knudsen". Images 4-5 are shots of the crowd under a striped tent. Image 6 is a candid shot of two women. The woman on the left is pinning a corsage onto the jacket of the woman on the right. Image 7 is a candid shot a three people, two men and one woman talking to each other. The men both have "Super 8 Motel" name tags. The man on the right holds a large rolled up piece of paper. Images 8-10 are posed group shots of five people, four men and one woman in the center. They stand in front of the "Super 8 Motel sign". The woman and one of the men have a hand on the shovel as they push it into the ground.
