North Thurston High School Cheerleaders and Band, 1976. These eight black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film rolls from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show group and individual photos of North Thurston High School Cheerleaders in 1976. Images 7a through 10a show seven female cheerleaders laying on their stomachs on a lawn outside of North Thurston High School. They are looking toward the camera. One male cheerleader is kneeling at either end of the row of female cheerleaders. Images 11a through 14a show the same nine cheerleaders gathered around and on the North Thurston High School sign. Images 15a through 18a show five of the female cheerleaders kneeling down and holding pom-poms. The four remaining cheerleaders are standing. Images 19a through 21a show one of the male cheerleaders standing on the other male cheerleader's shoulders. Image 22a shows one of the male cheerleaders doing a flip. Images 23a through 7a show each of the seven female cheerleaders posing individually next to a tree.
The images in group "b" show the North Thurston High School Band posing for a group photo in a gymnasium. The band members are all wearing formal attire.
Printed along one long edge of each of the strips in group "a" is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM." Printed along the top edge of the strip in group "b" is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."Made/Created
