Description

Police Department Demonstrating Engraving, Unknown Date. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show three different men engraving various objects. Image 3 shows a man (Richard A. Maltby) lening over a table while engraving the bottom of a camera. His middle initial and last name are visible on his nametag. His badge shows that he is a member of the Washington State Patrol. Images 4 and 5 show Mr. Maltby standing while engraving the camera. Image 6 shows a close-up of the camera being engraved. Images 7 through 9 show a man who appears to be Homer Hedgepeth engraving a typewriter. Image 10 shows "LACEY PD" engraved onto the bottom of a camera. Images 11 and 12 show George Yantis, Jr. engraving an unknown object. Printed in alternation along one long edge of both of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
