Description

New Home Construction, Unknown Dates. These two film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show exterior shots of houses at various stages of construction, and some bird decorations. Image 33a shows a double-wide manufactured home amongst uneven bare soil. Image 34a shows a completed home, which also appears to be a manufactured home, amongst a landscaped lot. Images 35a and 36a are similar to image 34a, although different homes are shown. Images 37a and 38a show two fake birds, probably carved from wood, on top of two cut-off tree trunks. Image 44a shows a building under construction. Only the walls of the building are present. The walls appear to be made of slabs of concrete. Image 1a shows the same building. Image 2a shows a commercial building which is totally or nearly complete. Image 3a shows a structure under construction. There are both concrete and wooden elements to the structure. The wooden portion may be a deck. Images 4a and 5a show a fairly large building under construction. Only framing members and a partial brick or concrete block wall are present. The images in group "b" show two different houses under construction, a concrete foundation for a building, and two men pouring concrete. Image 43b shows a house under construction. Images 44b and 1b show a different house under construction. Image 2b shows the concrete foundation of a building to be constructed. Image 3b shows two men pouring concrete into forms from a cement truck. The form is for a sidewalk. Printed at intervals along the top edges of these strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
