Description

Action Guide, Unknown Dates. These nine black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using six separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film rolls from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a wheel-powered ship in Budd Bay, the Capital Mall, the Old Main building at Saint Martin's, people fishing, an area which appears to be the Nisqually River Delta, the Washington State Capitol Museum and the Olympia Brewery. Images 10a and 11a show a wheel-powered ship in Budd Bay near a log yard. Images 12a and 14a show an exterior shot of a portion of the Capitol Mall, including part of the parking lot. Images 15a through 17a show exterior shots of the front of the Old Main building on the Saint Martin's campus. Image 18a shows two men seated next to a lake. The nearer of the two men is fishing. Image 19a is similar to the previous image, but here a third man is also seated nearby. Image 20a shows a man seated in a folding chair holding up what appears to be a trout. Image 21a shows a man holding a fishing pole vertically. The lake is in the background. Images 22a and 23a show a barn or warehouse out in a large open area which appears to be part of the Nisqually River Delta. Images 24a and 25a show the front exterior of the Washington State Capitol Museum. Images 26a through 28a show the exterior of the main Olympia Brewing Company building. A sign reading "OLYMPIA BREWING COMPANY" is visible on top of the building. The images in group "b" show an unknown woman posing for portrait-style photos. The woman has shoulder-length hair and is wearing a sweater. All of these images (24b through 27b) are identical to each other. The images in group "c" show a man standing behind a display counter. Visible through the glass top of the counter is what appears to be many coins of various sizes in small square containers. On top of the counter is a long box which appears to have many envelopes or dividers in it. A label on the front of the box reads "Silver Certificates." All of these images (43c-44c and 1c through 2c) are all nearly identical. The images in group "d" show what appears to be a piece of fabric with "fred's port cafe olympia, washington" printed on it. All of the images (19d through 24d) are nearly identical. The images in group "e" show a man seated at a desk speaking to a woman seated next to the desk. Other desks are visible in the background. All of these images (20e through 23e) are effectively identical. The images in group "f" show a man standing on a dock and posing for photos. To the left of the man on a bench is a diving helmet and speed and direction control for a ship. Several boats are visible on the water in the background. All of these images (16 through 19) are nearly identical.
