Basketball, 1977. These twenty black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using five separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film rolls from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show a men's basketball game between the teams from North Thurston High School and a team with "MONARCHS" on their jerseys. This team is likely from Mark Morris High School. All of these images (3a-25a) show the game underway.
The images in group "b" also show a men's basketball game between North Thurston High School and what is likely Mark Morris High School. This is likely the same game seen in group "a."
The images in group "c" show a women's basketball game between the teams from North Thurston High School and a team which is likely from Timberline High School. The assumption that one of the teams is from Timberline is that "TIMBERLI" can be seen painted on a wall at the right-hand side of image 16c. All of these images (16c-18c, 33c-44c and 1c-8c) show the game in progress.
The images in group "d" show a men's basketball game between the teams from North Thurston High School and Timberline High School. All of these images (11d-30d and 39d-41d) show the game underway. This game was played on December 10, 1977.
The images in group "e" show a women's basketball game between the teams from North Thurston High School and what is likely Timberline High School. This may be the same game seen in group "c."Made/Created
