Basketball, Unknown Dates. These twenty-four contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using ten separate film rolls, so many of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. Unless otherwise noted, these images were all captured in 1978.
The images in group "a" show a men's basketball game between the team from Saint Martin's College and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. This game took place on or around February 2, 1981. All of these images (26a-42a) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "b" show a men's basketball game between the team from Capital High School and an unknown team (there are no distinguishing markings on their uniforms). All of these images (10b-29b) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "c" show a men's basketball game between two unknown teams (neither team has any distinguishing markings on their uniforms). All of these images (1c-19c) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "d" show a men's basketball game between the teams from Timberline High School and Olympia High School. All of these images (41d-44d and 1d-15d) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "e" show a men's basketball game between the teams from Timberline High School and Olympia High School. This is likely the same game seen in group "d." All of these images (11e-16e) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "f" show a men's basketball game between the teams from Timberline High School and Olympia High School. Note that here the players are wearing different jerseys than those seen in groups "d" and "e." All of these images (42f-44f, 1f-7f) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "g" show a men's basketball game between Saint Martin's College and the University of Alaska at fairbanks. This is the same game seen in group "a." Images 41g through 44g show the game in progress. Image 1g shows the scoreboard at the game.
The images in group "h" show a men's basketball game between the teams from Saint Martin's College and the University of Puget Sound. All of these images (1h-4h) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "i" show a men's basketball game between the teams from Saint Martin's College and the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. These images show the same game seen in groups "a" and "g." All of these images (42i-44i and 1i-2i) show the game in progress.
The images in group "j" show shots of two players from North Thurston High School men's basketball team and one player from Timberline High School's men's basketball team posing for action shots. It appears that the photographer was sitting on the basketball backboard, which the players are standing under or shooting into. Images 15j through 18j show the two North Thurston players under the hoop. Image 19j shows a fairly blurry shot of a group of people in a gymnasium. Images 25j through 27j show fairly blurry shots of the Timberline player doing lay-ups in the hoop. These images were captured or printed on January 15, 1975.Made/Created
